This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Commercial Department of a leading Title Insurance Company. As a National Commercial Underwriter, you will collaborate with our Commercial Coordinators and operations team to provide exceptional service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to title underwriting and escrow inquiries from customers and title staff, ensuring smooth transactions.
- Work alongside the sales manager and sales team to foster client relationships and develop new business opportunities.
- Create and participate in client-focused presentations on topics that influence our industry.
- Review and negotiate Indemnity and Escrow Funding Agreements, manage Re-insurance placements, and examine transactional and organizational documents.
- Collaborate with other company offices to address legal and transactional issues on shared transactions.
- Utilize the company's title production platform effectively for commitment construction, policy production, and endorsement issuance, ensuring timely delivery to customers.
- Monitor and prioritize tasks, assigning work to team members through our system workflow to maintain high productivity levels.
- Review surveys, draft responses to title objection letters, and demonstrate proficiency in reading and mapping various real property legal descriptions.
- Assist in training current and future personnel in these core areas.
- Provide support to the agency's title counsel in underwriting and coordinating single and multi-site national transactions.
- Order searches and follow up with local offices for reports, missing documents, surveys, and information on local practices.
- Ensure that service and quality standards are consistently met by interacting with internal team members and clients.
- Coordinate pro forma and final policies pre- and post-closing.
- Prepare settlement statements and disbursement requests.
- Underwrite and assist in closing commercial transactions, while being flexible with hours as needed.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of commercial real estate title review and underwriting experience with a major national title insurer.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a comprehensive understanding of commercial title principles and practices, including relevant laws, legal codes, and title insurance regulations.
- Ability to evaluate, learn, and implement modern title production systems and technology.
- Proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing pressure with confidence.
- Exceptional organizational skills and a commitment to fulfilling commercial customer demands.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
