Job Description
The Educational Director plays a vital role in supervising the development, organization, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of Early Childhood and Preschool instructional programs. This position ensures that all scholars meet or exceed the Department of Education (DOE) Core Curriculum Content Standards. Achieving excellence involves collaborating with staff, nurturing team dynamics, and effectively communicating with families, community members, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
Creating a Positive Learning Environment:
Stay updated on curriculum developments, evaluation scales, pedagogical strategies, and new directives to enhance learning.
Implement Common Core/EFQ performance and quality standards in daily operations for early childhood development (ages 2-5).
Collaborate with educators to design a curriculum that meets the diverse needs of all scholars.
Support educators in organizing a safe, authentic, and engaging learning community.
Implement and evaluate educators based on CLASS and ECERS standards.
Develop and maintain a scholar-centered program that promotes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Ensure the facility is safe and healthy for all scholars.
Facilitate referrals to agencies for scholars with special needs.
Promote and maintain high attendance rates for both scholars and staff.
Manage the school's budget effectively.
Mentor, encourage, and train teachers and staff.
Provide constructive feedback through regular classroom observations.
Manage tours, orientation, recruitment, and social media marketing.
Collaborate actively with teachers to uphold high curriculum standards.
Address procedural questions and provide clear guidance.
Participate in hiring, training, and evaluating teaching staff.
Review instructional objectives and learning materials regularly.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Maintain comprehensive staff and scholar records.
Protect the confidentiality of records and share information judiciously within legal boundaries.
Complete all records and reports in compliance with relevant regulations.
Assist in interviewing prospective staff and make recommendations.
Provide orientation and training for new staff, substitutes, and volunteers.
Collaborate with the Program Director to review curriculum plans and assess program effectiveness. Attend all staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Stay current with developments in Early Childhood Education.
Lead the development of early childhood curriculum and instructional programs, ensuring they are aligned with best practices in child growth and development.
Participate in Board of Education and administrative meetings.
Summarize and share updates in instructional strategies and learning theories with staff.
Family Support:
Establish positive relationships with families, sharing information about their scholars' daily experiences and progress.
Coordinate and engage with families actively.
Plan and participate in family activities that promote engagement.
Review and create newsletters for families.
Help families understand the curriculum and involve them in their child's learning.
Provide support for parents to enhance their child's learning experiences at home, including planning family support sessions.
Collaborate with community leaders to support early childhood programs.
Foster positive relationships with scholars to promote self-esteem and self-discipline.
Assist scholars and educators in developing self-adaptive skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge:
Proficient in computerized data collection programs.
Understanding of early childhood growth and development.
Familiarity with Pre-K/3K curriculum and relevant funding regulations.
Experience with remote learning platforms like Zoom and Class Dojo.
